OLYMPIC EFFICIENCY

LAKE PLACID, NEW YORK

We designed this home in the Adirondack High Peaks for two Olympic biathletes.  Their goal was to create a peaceful, uncluttered living space that took full advantage of natural light, passive solar heat, and energy efficient building components.

Engineered to thrive in arctic temperatures with massive snow loads, the home is a testament to the structural integrity and efficiency benefits of building with SIPs.  This house was carefully airsealed and repeatedly tested for tightness with results that meet the standards set by the Passive House Institute.

We work in a collaborative airspace and our clients deserve a ton of credit for their design choices which combine modern and traditional elements to create a vibrant and soothing atmosphere.

They also brought a clear vision into the design stage of this project.  The result is everything Timberbuilt stands for — artful, rugged, and green.  We now include this home – The Burke – among our signature offerings.

THE BURKE

A TIMBER FRAME DESIGN

Credit for the work in these photos is shared amongst the many local contractors and tradesmen who took over once our team finished the shell — especially Brian Crowl and his crew from Crowl Construction.

Brian was deeply involved in this project from start to finish overseeing everything from the roof installation, siding, windows and doors, to the mechanical systems and all of the finish carpentry inside and out.  He is an outstanding option if you happen to be building in the High Peaks region and his talk on energy efficient building practices is required viewing for anyone serious about net zero goals.
