Timber frame custom home with two gable roofs set before an expansive snowy mountain

We always feel especially lucky when a general contractor makes us look this good.

We hoped for the best when we left this Big Sky, Montana timber frame in the hands of Taylor Graham and his team at Montana Custom Build. Check out their outstanding work in the photos below. Taylor and his crew are the kind of pro craftsmen that all of our clients deserve — dedicated, exacting, and dependable.

We design homes and see them finished in our mind’s eye — but the final product is ultimately born of the decisions made between clients and local contractors. Sure we handle the structural elements, the footprint, floor plan, and we’ll even advise clients on interior design choices — but for the most part it’s out of our hands.

Taylor and his team took the reins and rolled. It’s guys like this that make us look good.

We’re building our most popular design (The Olive) at a timber frame project in nearby Bozeman. While our battle-tested field guys fight the icy cold weather, we checked in on a couple other Montana projects — we stopped in on our old fiends (and clients) in their Paradise Valley ranch then took a ride out to Big Sky.

Aside from the beautiful scenery we were psyched to see how the build here is progressing. Our client is in very capable hands with an excellent general contractor directing all of the finish work inside.

These photos give you a pretty good idea of what’s included in Timberbuilt’s installation. We generally arrive on site with your foundation already poured and leave when the house looks like this. Oops — except for the windows. We don’t install the windows. Check out an overview of our services, which carries you from design through our SIP and timber assembly.

As you can see, we do the entire SIP panel assembly, along with the timber frame.

Build updates from our team in Big Sky.

Our field timber framers install all of the SIP panels which structurally support the timbers, offer an air-sealed insulated building envelope, and are fast and efficient to install. They are the cornerstone to our devotion to green building.
