Sally rolls a heavy pine timber

Life is pretty brutal for a timber that comes through our doors.

Imagine it’s you…

After the bumpy trip in on a tractor trailer, you’re greeted in our yard with a short forklift ride then marked up in pencil, sawed, chiseled, and razor-cut. Some burley guys come and drill holes in you, set you on the floor and hit you with mini-sledge hammers until you fit into place with your brother and sister timbers. And if you don’t fit in place then you’ll learn to straighten up the hard way with THE CLAMPS.

The clamps put everyone in line.

But after you’re yanked back apart and re-stacked your world takes a wonderous turn for the better. Through the haze of sawdust and blaring country music you see your savior.

She’s gentle, nurturing, cleaning you up and dressing any of your wounds like a battlefield nurse with a med kit full of fine grit sandpaper and mysterious solutions. She planes your surface flat, details your edges with her router, and smooths everything with an orbital sander. Then she brushes you with penetrating stain and carefully packages you up for a safe ride out.

If you were that timber, you’d be in good hands.

Sally directs all of our timber finishing and is your partner in coloring the surface of your timbers.

Aside from our designers, Sally’s work has the greatest impact on the final look of your home. Interior design choices from paint colors, furniture, window treatments, and ceilings all depend on the staining decisions you make with Sally.

She’ll consult with you about stain options, fabricate and send you samples, and personally lead her team through all of the final work — from sanding to staining to carefully stacking your timbers for delivery to your site.

Sally’s constantly adjusting her process, honing her skills like an artist to get the perfect blend of stain for every species of wood in all types of climate conditions. After our field guys return from a project, she corners them for pictures, checking the quality of her work, making sure the timbers look right and the client is happy.

A proud, dependable worker, with the grit to work outside all winter (in Buffalo!) and the strength to roll timbers, Sally is as tough as anyone on our crew and a treasured member of our Timberbuilt family.
