Energy efficient timber home with white metal roof and a porch

Construction continues on our Springville, NY build of an energy efficient home for Timberbuilt founder, George Klemens.

George has been using the construction of his own home to test a lot of our new data on right-sizing HVAC systems. Through passive solar orientation, our advanced building envelope, and a few strategically placed electric heating units, George is intent on defining, in concrete terms, some real-world measurements and benchmarks for the homes he builds.

We don’t usually get to experiment like this but we lucked out — George’s home would’ve been completed last summer but it burned down (while it was stacked in pieces) inside out facility during Timberbuilt’s massive fire in February 2016.

We’ve come a long way in two years, not just by rebuilding our entire facility but also through outreach — to energy analysts and some gutsy eco-conscious engineers (Trautman Associates). Now, with George’s home taking shape we’re seizing the moment to learn more about energy conservation and high-tech efficiency. It’s a big win for everybody — our business, our clients, and the environment around us all.

There aren’t many covered bridges around western New York so we built this one from scratch (and timbers). This is part of our project in Springville, NY.
