From Timberbuilt's inception, the company has been guided by owner, George Klemen's, adventurous spirit. In that same way we welcome clients who want to conquer the dream of building their own Timberbuilt.

For some Do It Yourselfers the desire is based upon economics.  For others, it's...well … a spiritual thing.  Either way Timberbuilt is a good fit.

Getting Started

Timberbuilt does much of the planning and almost all of the heavy lifting....helping to make your DIY dream a reality.

Our support can be physical or technical...whatever it takes to ensure that the finished Timberbuilt is one of which we can all be proud.

The Design

Designing your Timber frame is the easy part.  We have several signature designs that are flexible and can be easily adapted to your dream home ideal.  However, if one of our signature designs doesn’t fit the bill, no problem.  We can create your home from scratch since designing is one of our strongest attributes, having won design awards from the east coast to the Rockies.  Our entire crew will work on your concept and collaborate with you in creating a rendering and a 3-D model.

The DYI Process

At Timberbuilt, we do all that we can to make the building process as easy as possible for our DIY clients. We begin by providing you with construction documents and the check list of steps below. We then engineer and manufacture the timbers and SIP panels for your home.

Step 1: Site Work

You are responsible for site work, clearing the lot, and providing our Timberbuilt Crew with a workable construction space.

Step 2: Foundation and Deck

You are responsible for building the foundation and adding the decking, based on construction documents we provide.

Step 3: Timberbuilt Framing

Here’s where we come in and do the heavy lifting. Our Timberbuilt Crew will arrive onsite and erect the timbers, add the SIP Panels, install tongue and groove on the ceilings, and install the SIP roof panels. In addition our crew will build all of your exterior covered entries and porches.  (See our What's Included webpage.

Step 4: Making It Weather Tight

In order to make your Timberbuilt weather tight, you will have to wrap your house in Tyvek (or comparable product), apply ice and water shield to the roof, and install the windows.  At this point, you are free to work on your home as time and weather permits.

Step 5: The Finishes

We can help you make these choices or you can venture down this winding road on your own.  Depending on your sense of adventure, this part is either fun, or daunting.

  • Siding
  • Roofing
  • Stone
  • Possibly other exterior cladding materials such as stucco or steel.

  • Mechanicals
  • Dry Wall
  • Flooring
  • Fixtures

That’s it!  You now are the proud owner of the Timberbuilt you envisioned, planned and built yourself. And while building a home can seem like a daunting task, we do our best to streamline the process and, in the end, help you achieve an incredibly well-designed home with superior efficiency, at a reasonable cost.

We look forward to hearing from you and to working together in creating your Timberbuilt dream home.
